Meet #A3AllStar, Mr. Jacob Hewell! 
Mr. Hewell is a seventh-grade Math teacher at Starr-Iva Middle School!
Hewell has been in education for five years, teaching two years in 8th-grade history and 3 in his current position. In addition to teaching, he leads the SIMS Wrestling Team as head coach and is an assistant coach for the SIMS Football Team. Jacob and his wife Haley are newlyweds!
Mr. Hewell says, "My faith is the #1 reason I went into education. Parents of 6th to 8th graders would probably call me crazy, but I feel led to work with this age group. Middle school is such a crucial time in a young person's life, and I feel that I can be a positive role model for my students and athletes that I coach."
"What do you value most about teaching?”
"The most valuable part about teaching and coaching is the people I get to work with and help in this community. Starr and Iva have some of the most helpful, kind, and loving people of any small town. I'm never surprised to see others give unselfishly to community members in need. Being able to help students who have walked down the same hallways and sat in the same classrooms as me is one small way to give back to the community. The most rewarding part about working as a teacher/coach is seeing students and athletes face adversity and fight through it to achieve success. To watch students continue to a victory when the odds are stacked against them is a moment of pure joy that will never get old. I love seeing this community have success and win."

1. “My wedding day happened during the COVID lockdown. We had a small ceremony with close friends and family.”

2. “My wife and I have two dogs, Blue and Wilma. They are probably the two most spoiled animals in the world.” 
3. “I'm a sports fanatic. I'm always watching a game on TV.” 
4. “I dyed my hair blonde along with the CHS Wrestling Team, after winning state!”
