Sherman Teaching, Iva

Congratulations to this week's #A3AllStar, Mrs. Christi Sherman! 🌟

Mrs. Sherman has taught 1st-grade at Iva Elementary School for three years! Sherman is a 2005 graduate of Anderson College. She began her teaching career as a first-grade teacher at Varennes Elementary, during which she earned her Master's Degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College. Sherman took time off from teaching to be a nanny but then found her way back to her first calling in 2018.

Mrs. Sherman was born and raised in Anderson, SC. She married her husband Briand in 2019. Together they enjoy vacationing and spending time with family and friends.

"What do you value most about your position?"

"I value building relationships with students. I value teaching students to be better people all around, not just more intelligent people. I cherish those AH-HA moments that I get to see while teaching students those foundational skills they will use as building blocks in their education for the rest of their life. I love my students as if they were my own, and I hope when they leave me, they know that they will have someone who loves them and is rooting for them for the rest of their life. I also value the relationships I have formed with my co-workers. These people are some of the most dedicated and knowledgeable people I have ever met. I am honored to teach alongside them and call them my friends."

Here are three facts about Mrs. Sherman!

  1. One of her biggest fears is birds. 🐦
  2. She does not like her food to touch, and she eats one thing at a time on her plate. 🍲
  3. No matter how hard she tries, she is almost always the last one to leave school. 🏫

Congratulations, Mrs. Sherman! Thank you for being an #A3AllStar for the students of Iva Elementary! 🀩
