Meet 2023 Retiree, Mrs. Patricia Wooten! ๐๐
Mrs. Wooten has retired after 30 years of service to Anderson 3. Tricia is a 1989 graduate of Crescent High School. After obtaining her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Erskine College, she began her career teaching at Starr-Iva Middle School. Most of her teaching years were spent in 3rd and 4th grade at Starr Elementary before finishing out teaching 5th Grade at Flat Rock Elementary.
Patricia and her husband, Scott, have been married for 24 years. Together they have one daughter, Hannah.
"What will you miss most?"
"I will miss the relationships with my students and co-workers. I will also miss those moments of student success, whether it be understanding a new skill or reaching a goal. My favorite memories come from the bonds established with the students, the funny things they say or do, and the many ways they show how much they appreciate me as their teacher. Being an educator is a calling. You have to be dedicated and, even on your worst day, give the students your best."
Thank you, Mrs. Wooten, for devoting 30 years to educating, inspiring, and loving the children of Anderson 3. We wish you a wonderful retirement! ๐

This year's STEAM Camp was a success! Students spent the week "Blowing Off STEAM" with fun, engaging activities that tested their creativity and critical thinking skills! They ended their week with a trip to downtown Anderson! ๐จ๐๐ถ

Meet #A3AllStar, Ms. Kate Abernethy! ๐๐ฏ
Ms. Abernathy is a veteran Math teacher at Crescent High School. She was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in Pontotoc, MS. She's lived in IL, MS, NC, FL, and now GA. Kate is the youngest of 6. Before coming to Crescent, she taught at Cocoa High School in Cocoa, FL.
"What do you value most about your position?"
"I think my co-workers make the difference. We work together, support each other, and really care about each other. Teaching is not easy, but the people you work with can make all the difference. If you are willing to be patient and remember, maybe even more important than the subject I teach is the fact that I have the opportunity to help create confident, caring, successful young adults."
Here are three facts about Ms. Abernethy:
1. I have 13 great-nieces and nephews. ๐ง๐ป๐ง๐ป
2. I have a brother-in-law who has been part of the family longer than I have.
3. I have driven a dog team on the Yukon River, gone ice fishing, and seen the Northern Lights. ๐ฅถ
We are blessed to have Ms. Abernethy; she is a #A3AllStar! Congratulations! ๐
