Board Commendations
At the February 2023 meeting of the Anderson 3 Board of Trustees, the board commended nine Starr-Iva Middle School students recognized as 2023 South Carolina Junior Scholars. The South Carolina Junior Scholars Program identifies eighth-grade students with exceptional academic talent and develops strategies for inclusion into special programs or opportunities.

To qualify for the program, students had to earn a score of 550 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing portion of the PSAT/NMSQT or a score of 530 or higher on the Mathematics portion of the PSAT/NMSQT. Congratulations to these students!
Capital Projects
HVAC Upgrades will occur this summer at Starr-Iva Middle School and Iva Elementary. This project will replace 58 outdated Bard HVAC Units. These units are throughout the building at SIMS. At Iva Elementary, they are located in the PreK and 5th-grade wings of the building. The project's total cost is $2.8 Million and is being paid out of Federal ESSER (COVID) Funds.
AIT Automotive Program ASE Certification
The Anderson Institute of Technology, Anderson 3's shared career center with Anderson 4 & 5, recently received Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in Maintenance & Light Repair. ASE Certification is a nationally recognized test that certifies automotive service professionals' knowledge level. This certification is an excellent way for AIT's Automotive Program to stay updated with industry standards.
Administrator Recommendations
During the February meeting of the Anderson 3 Board of Trustees, the board approved the administration's recommendation for Hanna West to become Iva Elementary’s Assistant Principal of Instruction for the 2023-2024 school year. Read More: https://www.acsd3.org/article/...
