Mrs. Murdock's and Mrs. Dove's Kindergarten students showcased their writing and illustrating skills at their K5 Writing Celebration! A huge "Thank You" goes to those who took time to encourage these students by listening to them read!
Ms. Whitfield’s class has been learning how to closely read a text in order to develop a deeper level of understanding while reading! Before diving into a text they practiced their close reading skills by looking closely at Oreos! I think it’s safe to say they had a lot of fun doing this activity!

Census workers will hold a drive-through 2020 Census assistance event on Friday, September 25, from 3-5 PM at the Starr Town Hall. Census participation in the Starr-Iva area continues to be the lowest in the county. Each person counted equals approx. $809 in funding! Our teachers and students are working extremely hard and we could not be more proud! This week was our first week of the Virtual Learning Academy and although technology wasn’t always our friend... the teachers and students persevered and made the best of it! One of our fourth grade virtual students shared her work with us today! Joceline Stephens is in Mrs. Thomas’s science class! They have been working on an astronomy unit and she completed an assignment all about the sun! Check out her awesome work! We would like to give a special shout out to our virtual teachers!! School Makeover: Lunchroom Edition, Part 2 🥪🍴 This summer, the Iva Elementary lunchroom also underwent a cosmetic makeover. Gray and gold paint allowed for a fresh new look! Check out their new wall decal and a welcome mural by former Iva Elementary student, Ashley Rice!
