Just a friendly reminder that we will have our 7th and 8th grade registration tomorrow (8/15) from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at SIMS. If at all possible we encourage you to fill out the online registration before you arrive, but we will have computers available to use, if needed.

VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS:
CHS/SIMS C-Team Volleyball tryouts will be held for rising 7th and 8th graders on Wed., August 7th and Thurs., August 8th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at Crescent. Participants must have physical, play safe, parent permission, and HIPPA forms turned in on the day of or before tryouts. Students missing forms will not be able to participate in tryouts. Forms can be found on the Crescent website under “Athletics-Required Participation Forms.”

Starr-Iva Middle is receiving several upgrades this summer. The side entrance is receiving a face lift with brick columns and a fenced in garbage pad. The interior will have a new floor in the gym and hall! We can’t wait for the finished product!
8th graders recently took a field trip to visit our nation's capital. While there, they visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the White House, the Vietnam Memorial, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the National Constitution Center, and other national monuments!
Recipient of this year's Billy T. Daniel award, Brody Russell! The Billy T. Daniel award is given annually to the eighth-grader who best exhibits strong academic achievement, leadership, character, and citizenship. It is our school’s most prestigious award. This award is named in honor of Mr. Billy T. Daniel, former principal of Starr-Iva. He is a man of high character who embodies kindness, dignity, and hard work. Congrats, Brody!

Our Edna Dawn Bowen Award recipient is, Rylie Simpson! The Edna Dawn Bowen Awards is given to a 8th grade student for their service and involvement in the National Junior Beta Club. Congratulations, Rylie!
This years Principal Award was presented to Branyon Pressley! The Principal's award is given to the 8th grader who the principal has witnessed a great deal of maturity and change throughout their time at SIMS. Congrats, Branyon!
The recipient of the Knight Johnson Award is Anzleigh Hutchins. The award is presented annually to a student who has shown noticeable improvement over his or her three years at Starr-Iva in one or more of the following areas: academics, citizenship, or overall maturity. Congratulations, Anzleigh!
