It's National Science of Reading Week! Today, we would like to showcase Miss Craft's K5 class. To enrich her phonics instruction, students are practicing blending CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words using their race cars and blending boards. Her students love to "race" through the sounds in each word to build their automaticity in a kinesthetic way! 📚🏎️

Our 5th grade students had a fantastic trip yesterday on their annual tour of Michelin North America Starr Facility US8. Michelin is such a valuable asset for our students and our Flat Rock community. We are so thankful for this partnership with an outstanding company! 💙🤍

Mrs. Crystal Vaughn will officially join us as a 1st Grade Teacher at Flat Rock Elementary in July. Crystal previously served as a Paraprofessional in the district for 11 years. After falling in love with watching students grow into their potential, she returned to school to obtain a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. This past December, she officially graduated from Anderson Univerisity and has served in 5th grade at Flat Rock for the remainder of the school year. Crystal and her husband have three daughters and reside in Starr.
