💛 Flat Rock Beta Club Service Project — All Students Welcome! 💛

We are excited to kick off a special donation drive to support children who are staying in the hospital for an extended time. Our Beta Club is collecting coloring books, crayons, and colored pencils to help bring comfort, joy, and a little creativity to their days.

We would love for our Flat Rock families to join us in this project!

We will operate on a normal schedule for Friday, January 30.

Anderson 3 will operate on a Two-Hour Delay schedule for Thursday, January 29. ⏰ Bus routes may take slightly longer than normal as drivers safely reroute to avoid areas that remain hazardous. Communication will be shared directly with families whose routes may be affected. 🚌❄️

❄️ Weather Update #2 ❄️

Our Transportation and Operations Teams have worked diligently today to assess road conditions across the Starr, Iva, and Flat Rock communities. While primary roads and highways have improved, many rural secondary roads remain hazardous due to lingering ice. These roadways contain numerous 🚌❄️

Because of these conditions, Anderson 3 will observe an eLearning Day, Wednesday, January 28, to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. 💻✏️

Sequencing words matter! 📚 Whether we’re reading, writing, or telling someone how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, words like first, next, then, and last help our ideas make sense. Without sequencing, stories get confusing… and sandwiches get messy! 😅 Mrs. Blanton’s first graders learned that smart readers, writers, and sandwich makers use sequencing words and details! 🥪💛

With winter weather approaching, our 3rd graders leaned into the season with a winter-themed STEM + read aloud rotation! ❄️ Students visited four exciting stations inspired by favorite snowy stories: ☃️ The Biggest Snowman Ever — designed and built their own snowmen 🌙 Owl Moon — used flashlights to explore shadows and light 🐧 Tacky the Penguin — created clever disguises for their penguins ❄️ Snowflake Bentley — engineered beautiful snowflake structures Each station included a planning sheet and writing activity to help students think like engineers and reflect like authors. A perfect way to keep learning cozy, creative, and hands-on as winter rolls in! 💙

❄️🧊🌨️ Anderson 3 will have eLearning days on Monday and Tuesday, January 26–27. Choice boards were sent home today in Friday folders.

❄️ Winter Weather Update ❄️

Due to anticipated winter weather impacts over the weekend, Anderson 3 will observe eLearning Days on Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27.

Schools will communicate eLearning information directly with students and families. We understand that winter weather may result in power outages or connectivity issues ⚡📶, and flexibility will be provided as needed. Please be reminded that students have five (5) school days to complete the assigned eLearning work following the date that school operations resume.

🏃‍♀️❄️Reminder: Our Running Club Marathon Challenge is underway! Students are working toward running a full marathon across the school year, one lap at a time. This is a great way for kids to stay active in the afternoons! Bundle up and get moving!

Congratulations to our Robotics Teams! Both teams were awarded 2nd place overall in the Teamwork Championship! Additionally, team 2730A earned 2nd place in the Individual Skills Challenge! 🥈🥈 Team 2730A also won the VEX IQ Design Award. This award recognizes the team with organized and professional engineering processes. The team is assessed via a submitted engineering notebook and judge interview. 🏆📓

Our winter benchmark testing for students in K5-5th grades will begin next week. We will test Monday, January 12th, through Thursday, January 15th. 💻
