SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!! It’s spring break, but the spotlight is still shining.........today’s Spring Sports Senior Spotlight takes us to the soccer field with Lady Tiger Senior Taylor Moore! Always proud to be a Tiger! SPRING SPORTS SENIOR Q & A Name: Taylor Moore Your Current Sport and Position: Soccer - wing and attacking mid College Plans: I plan to attend the College of Charleston and major in archaeology. Favorite Thing about Crescent: My favorite thing about Crescent is how connected we all are. It’s like one big family. The teachers care about their students so much, and the administration is always checking up on everybody and making sure that things are running smoothly. You can’t walk down the halls without being greeted by a teacher or Mr. Roberts. What’s your “Why” for playing sports: I love the competition. That’s partly why I started playing soccer. I was drawn to the heart and soul that was put into the game and the level of rivalry that is between many teams throughout the world. Players are constantly trying to outdo each other on the field, and teams meet each other in giant stadiums to show once and for all who is the better club. It’s truly amazing. Your Best Crescent Sports Memory: My best memory was making it to the playoffs my sophomore year. It was a huge milestone for the program, and to be a part of it was really amazing. I remember how excited we were to be advancing into the playoffs, and I loved how hyped everyone got before our first game. Funniest Player on your team and why: I would say it’s Haley Pepper. She’s always joking around and saying random things that just lighten the mood. Favorite food: Nachos What superpower do you wish you had and why: I wish I had the ability to control the weather. I think it would be so cool to have a say of when the sun shines and be able to make it snow. Advice to Crescent students: Do not take your four years in high school for granted. Go out and make as many memories as you can because you never know what is going to happen. I definitely didn’t expect my senior year to be put on hold because of a virus. Biggest influence on your life: My biggest influence on my life would probably be my dad. He’s such a great person, and I loved the way that he poured his heart into his teaching. He cared about all of his students and did everything he could to help them succeed. I want to care about people the way he does. I also got my love of history from him. He would drag us around the state to the most random places and tell us some random history facts about the place. He’s also supported me throughout my time as a soccer player, and it means a lot for him to be there for me.

I can set new goals and see those goals met from each meet’s event and the resulting time. Your Best Crescent Sports Memory: Praying with the team before meets. Funniest Player on your team and why: Morgan Dutton because she is always making jokes to make anyone smile when our times aren’t where we expected. She’s just an uplifter. Favorite food: Anything from Subway What superpower do you wish you had and why: I wish I had the ability to be invisible whenever I wanted to be. I could be anywhere at anytime and no one would know. Your greatest Halloween costume (feel free to explain): My mom says that I rocked the Princess look back in ‘02. Advice to Crescent students: “A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory.” -Louis Zamperini Biggest influence on your life: My mom is the biggest influence in my life because she is the one who knows exactly how far I can go and pushes me to always go the distance. She also tells me sometimes if I get a new PR (personal record) she’ll take me to Subway after a meet.

Name: Jake Davis Your Current Sport and Position: Baseball Shortstop College Plans: Go to AU to play baseball and major in Kinesiology Favorite Thing about Crescent: I love the teachers, my friends, and athletics. What’s your “Why” for playing sports: I play baseball because I love it. I play it year round and never get tired of it. It is so fun and it is a very hard game to play, so you can always improve your game. Your Best Crescent Sports Memory: Jarrett Oakes hitting a grand slam in the Upper State Championship Funniest Player on your team and why: There’s too many. We have so many goofy guys on the team who make jokes and say hilarious things. Favorite food: Zaxbys (anything from there) What superpower do you wish you had and why: Flying so that I can get places faster Your greatest Halloween costume: Tazmanian devil when I was 2 because it was a good representation of me Advice to Crescent students: Don’t take your time for granted especially in sports because it flies by and is gone before you know it. Biggest influence on your life: My parents because they always set a great example for me to follow and are always there for me.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!! For today’s Senior Spotlight, we head to the golf course with Senior Olivia Urban! Tiger Proud of Olivia for jumping into athletics/golf her senior year! Name: Olivia Urban Your Current Sport: Golf College Plans: I plan to attend Lander University and major in Business Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare Management. Favorite Thing about Crescent: One of my favorite things about Crescent is the family-like atmosphere. I know that I will always have amazing teachers and classmates there for me through anything. What’s your “Why” for playing sports: This was actually my first year playing a sport. I have always been very active in many clubs and organizations, but I wanted to try something new. Funniest Player on your team and why: The funniest player on the team is probably Mason Center. He always has the best jokes and can keep us laughing constantly. Favorite food: Chick-fil-a What superpower do you wish you had and why: If I had any superpower it would be the ability to read minds. It would make it a lot easier to trust people if you could read through their true intentions. Advice to Crescent students: I would say get involved. I have met so many of my friends through clubs and organizations. Also, don’t be afraid to talk to people and develop friendships. Biggest influence on your life: The biggest influence on my life has to be my grandma. She was one of the strongest women I knew. She taught me to never give up and always go for my dreams.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!! Today we head back to the soccer field with Lady Tiger Senior Jaiden Shea! Some outstanding words of wisdom, advice,and gratitude from Jaiden....... love getting the opportunity to spotlight our spring sports seniors! Name: Jaiden Shea Current Sport and Position: Soccer- Center Mid/ Holding Mid/ Forward College Plans: I am going to Clemson to study Architecture. Favorite Thing About Crescent: My favorite thing about Crescent is the relationships that not only the students have with each other, but the bond between the students and teachers. I think all of our teachers do a great job of checking in with students to make sure that they are doing everything possible to help them succeed and being a friend when needed. This attitude is also spread to our administration, who is constantly trying to help us shine, and prepare for the next steps in our lives. Your “Why” for Playing Soccer: I have always been a soccer player. Since I could walk, I was kicking a ball or being taken to watch my older brothers play. Every weeknight and weekend was dedicated to soccer. I love how fast-paced the game is and the uniqueness that challenges players to use their skills and work together as a unit. With every new opponent, I learn new things and face new obstacles. When I'm watching the professionals play, they make runs and passes look smooth like water. Playing soccer has taught me a lot of life lessons that helped build my character. With all the countless hours spent at practices and games and countless bruises, with countless victories and defeats, came countless memories and friendships. And I am so thankful for all of it. Greatest Crescent Sports Memory: My best Crescent soccer memory is making it to the 2nd round of playoffs my sophomore year. Before this time, Crescent Girls Soccer had never made to the first round of playoffs. I remember preparing for the first playoff game, confident in my team and myself. After we won, our next opponent was Indian Land. They had been effortlessly crushing every team that they played, and we were intimidated. The practice before we played them, Coach Bourgeois had the whole team sit down together and told the Bible story of David and Goliath, which was exactly what our team felt like going into the next game. Coach Bourgeois encouraged us by saying not to focus on how skilled the other team was, or how many victories they had, but to only focus on what we could do together. He handed all the girls on the team a little pebble, we prayed for a safe journey and went to the battlefield the next day. We didn't win that game against Indian Land, but we played with everything we had, and my teammates and I had made history. I will never forget that. Funniest Player on Your Team: The funniest person on my team would have to go to my best friend, and fellow captain, Haley Pepper. Haley is constantly cracking me up at practices and even during games. Even when I'm getting frustrated on the field, Haley tries to brighten my mood by making some stupid joke that never fails to make me crack a smile. FavoriteFood: My hands-down favorite food is ice cream. My favorite flavor is mint chocolate chip, and I love to treat myself with a cone or milkshake after victories. What Superpower do you Wish for: If I could choose a superpower I would pick teleportation. I am adventurous and being able to appear anywhere in the world would feed my wanderlust. Also, it would be super fun to play pranks on people. Greatest Halloween Costume: I don't really have a favorite Halloween costume, but I used to work the Disney princess costumes when I was little. Advice for Crescent Students: My advice for underclassmen… Well as obvious as this message seems, enjoy what you have while you have it. You don't know what the future holds for you, and things can change in an instant. And I have always grown up hearing that, but I've never truly experienced that lesson until something falls right out of the palm of my hand. I played what might be my last high school game on Monday night, not even considering a virus far far away from Starr, SC would come to steal away a part of my senior season. So please, make fun memories with your friends, cherish your family, and always always thank God for what you have. Greatest Influence on you: My parents have the biggest influence on me. They have always practiced what they preached that it takes hard work to be successful. I watch them come home from work on the weekdays only to take out their computer and pick back up right where they left off. They have also taught me that work isn't over everything. That finding time to share a meal with your family or take a short trip is what you're going to remember in the long run. They have taught me so many other life lessons, sometimes without even knowing, and I am so grateful for them both. Love you, Mom and Dad!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!! Today’s senior spotlight takes us back to the soccer field, as we spotlight senior soccer player James Sharp! Like all our senior spotlights so far, some awesome, profound, and clever insights! Name: James Isaiah Sharp Your Current Sport and Position: Soccer; Left midfielder, right defensive back, center midfield College Plans: Business Management at UofSC My favorite thing about Crescent: High School is the teachers. I wouldn’t wish for a better community of educators to prepare me for my future. What is your “Why” for Playing Sports: I play sports in order to stay in shape and stay connected with my friends. The soccer team is my second family. I love you guys. Greatest Crescent Sports Memory: The best memory for soccer has got to be when the coaches gave us pizza at practice my freshman year. I love pizza. Also there was a dog running around on the field with us, I think it was Ms. Rainey’s dog. Funniest Player on Your Team: The funniest player on the team has got to be Jesse Sauve. His humor is just unbeatable. He cracks unexpected jokes both during practice and on the field, and he backs it with hard work and determination to win games. Favorite Food: My favorite food has got to be pizza. You seriously cannot go wrong with it. Italians definitely knew what they were doing. What Superpower do you Wish for: I would like to travel through time. Time travel would be great because I could travel back before I ate a slice of pizza and then eat it again - now that would be crazy. Greatest Halloween Costume: I have a twin brother, so one year I decided to wear his clothes and be him for Halloween. Cheap and effective. Advice to Crescent Students: Don’t waste your time, it’s precious. Spend time with your friends, go to the sports games, and definitely apply for scholarships. Greatest Influence on Your Life: My biggest influence has got to be my papa Willy. Some people knew him as William Carter. He was a great man, and I give him credit for every bit of the man that I am today. He always encouraged me to work hard and to never give up.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!! Today we head back to the softball field for a Q and A with softball senior centerfielder Alyssa Leach, another outstanding athlete and even better kid - like all the spotlights we have done! We have asked our spring sports head coaches to reach out to their senior athletes, and hopefully will able to share some more as we go through our current sports pause. Love getting the opportunity to spotlight our spring sports seniors with their seasons on hold right now! Name: Alyssa Leach Your Current Sport and Position: Softball, Centerfield College Plans: Attend AU or Tri-County and study to become a Nurse Favorite thing about Crescent: My favorite thing about Cresecnt would have to be the amazing teachers/staff. I couldn’t have asked for better. They constantly push you to be the best you can be and if you ever need help they will be there for you or help you out !!! What are your “Whys” for playing: It’s not just because I love the sport. It’s the relationships you make while playing it or the memories you make ! It’s the intensity that you build because you are dedicated to make it far in your season and it takes a whole team to work together to make it that far!! Your Best Crescent Sports Memory: My best memory would be getting to be a part of a great team and making it to the state championship my first year on varsity. Even though we were runner-ups it still was a great experience and an awesome opportunity to get to play on the Carolina Gamecocks field. Funniest Player on your team and why: Most definitely Eme Davis because she always can keep me smiling! She can easily make someone’s day just by the smallest thing she might say or do. Favorite food: Steak What superpower do you wish you had and why: I wish I could read peoples’ minds because life would be so much easier if you knew what everyone was thinking! Your greatest Halloween costume: It’s been a while since I dressed up but I would say my best Halloween costume would have to be Pocahontas Advice to Crescent students: High school will fly by in a blink of an eye so don’t rush it! You will miss it one day! Biggest influence on your life: My biggest influence has been my mom because no matter what she constantly pushes me to do my best. She has been my #1 fan from day one and I can always count on her to be there for me when I need something! Without her I would not be the person I am today and I’m so thankful to be able to call her my mom!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!! For today’s spring sports senior spotlight, we “kick” things over to the soccer field for a little Q and A with senior soccer player Haley Pepper! College Plans: I am planning on attending Clemson or USC to double major in Biomedical Engineering and Business Management. Favorite Thing about Crescent: My favorite thing about Crescent is how much everyone cares about one another and how the teachers, coaches, and even the students help each other succeed. What’s your “Why” for playing sports: I play sports because I love getting to be a part of a team of people who are willing to put in hard work towards their goals. Like most athletes, I play because I love being on the field and helping my team win games while my friends and family cheer me on from the stands. Your Best Crescent Sports Memory: My favorite memory has been getting to play in the Alumni game at Crescent while I was still enrolled at CHS. This was a great experience because I got to play with my friends who have already graduated and against my friends who I get to see every day. Funniest Player on your team and why: The funniest player is most definitely me. I’m just playing, it is Jaiden Shea. We have so many inside jokes together that have sprouted out of our own “stupidity,” so even when no one else gets the joke I’m always laughing along with her. Favorite food: Pasta What superpower do you wish you had and why: I wish I could freeze time so that I could slightly alter the things around people and watch them freak out because their couch is now magically in their kitchen. Your greatest Halloween costume: My greatest Halloween costume was when I dressed up as an idiot sandwich......As in my costume was just my face between two pieces of bread. Advice to Crescent students: Always be a friend. Everyone that you go to school with should feel welcomed and wanted when they talk to you. Even just a smile will go a long way. Biggest influence on your life: My biggest influence is my mom because she has had to overcome a lot to get to where she is today, and she is still an amazing parent. The only thing I can’t understand about her is why she still argues with me even though I win every time..... Just kidding, I only win 95% of the time. 😉

Today - these buses mean even more. Today - instead of carrying kids, these buses and their wonderful drivers are transporting adults delivering food, love, and comfort to many kids in our community. Today - These buses make me even more proud to be a Tiger, as A3 employees and volunteers step up to make a difference. Thankful to everyone involved in the preparation and delivery of food the last couple of days. #ONETIGERNATION

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!! As we are currently in a “pause” for high school spring sports across the state, we thought it would be nice to focus on something positive and do a little “Q and A“ with some of our senior spring sport student-athletes at Crescent. Our first is with Jolie Kelley, right fielder for the Crescent Lady Tiger Softball team! Name: Jolie Kelley Your Current Sport and Position: Softball - Right Field College Plans/Major: Anderson University - Early Childhood Education Favorite thing about Crescent: I love how tight-knit our school is. I know that there is no other place I would rather go to school and I would love to give back to this community that has given so much to me when I graduate college. Your “Why” for playing sports: I love everything about softball. I love getting to play the game, but my “why” for playing is getting to be around a group of girls and coaches that are so special to me. My teammates and coaches are truly my second family. Your best Crescent sports memory: My first game playing on varsity would have to be my favorite memory. I thought that I was just dressing out and I wasn’t going to be playing, but when the nonstarters were getting announced I didn’t get announced with the nonstarters. I turned around and looked at Coach Adams and said “what am I supposed to do now.” He responded with his legendary hands on hips look (if you’ve ever played for Coach Adams you know exactly what I’m talking about) and he told me to hold on. When my name got called out and I was on the starting lineup, I was so excited and surprised. We won that game too so this was just a great day 😊 Funniest player on your team and why: I’d have to go with Eme. She is so straightforward and she keeps me laughing. Favorite Food: Japanese What superpower would you like and why: I wish I could read people’s mind. Then I would never get lied to. Your greatest Halloween costume: Me and family dressed up as Beetlejuice characters. Biggest influence on your life: My brother has the biggest influence on my life because of his sweet spirit. Even when I know Jake hasn’t had the best day, he still focuses on making someone else’s day better. I strive everyday to be the type of person that he is.

With schools being closed in A3 and across the state, this means that all after-school activities and sports (including practices and competitions) are suspended/paused during this time as well. We will update with any new information as it becomes available in the future.

Crescent Lady Tiger Softball mounts a strong comeback but comes up just short vs Clover in the semifinals of the Lady Tiger Tourney Saturday. Tough loss but a GREAT week for the Lady Tigers. Some very strong play against some great competition all week long. TIGER PROUD of these young ladies and love how they play with JOY and for each other! CONGRATS to Hillcrest High - Tourney Champs! Thanks to all who participated! LOVE. THESE. GIRLS.

Lady Tiger Softball gets the win over Ninety Six, and advances to the semifinals! Will play at 5 against an opponent to be determined.

Crescent Lady Tiger Softball with the early morning victory over Daniel today at the Lady Tiger Tourney! Lady Tigers will face the reigning AA State Champion Ninety Six Wildcats at 1 pm. Come on out and enjoy some softball!
